Policies
The fine print, & kept short.
Buying direct from a small business should be lower-risk than a faceless marketplace, not higher. These are the terms for direct purchases from Strommen Systems LLC. Anything genuinely not-as-described is on me.
Working items (Grade A, B+, and Tested-Functional) can be returned within 30 days of delivery for a refund of the item price.
- If the item is not as described or arrives defective, I cover return shipping and refund in full.
- For a change-of-mind return, the buyer covers return shipping and the item comes back in the condition it shipped, with everything it included.
- For parts / as-is items are sold with their fault stated and are not returnable for that known issue.
- Refunds go back to the original PayPal or Venmo payment once the item is received and checked.
Start a return from the contact form or by replying to your order email.
Orders ship from the Philadelphia area, typically within one to two business days. Shipping is flat-rate and insured for the item's value; fragile and heavier gear is foam-packed and double-boxed.
- Local pickup is available in the Philadelphia / Huntington Valley area at no charge — just ask before paying.
- Tracking is sent to your order email when the label is printed.
- If a package is lost or arrives damaged, the insurance claim is mine to handle — tell me and I'll make it right.
Working items are guaranteed to arrive and function as described. If a unit graded as working fails within 14 days of delivery through no fault of handling, I'll repair it, replace it, or refund it — your choice.
This is a used- and refurbished-electronics business, so the warranty covers the tested function as listed, not open-ended coverage or consumable wear. For-parts items carry no working-condition guarantee.
I collect only what's needed to answer your message and fulfill an order — your name, contact details, and shipping address. Payment is handled by PayPal and Venmo; I never see or store your card numbers.
- No newsletter, no CRM, no reselling or sharing of your details.
- Contact-form messages go to one inbox and are deleted once they're resolved.
- Order records are kept as required for tax and accounting, and no longer.
Questions about any of this? Ask →
Are these items new or used?
Everything is used or refurbished surplus, not new. Each unit is tested by an engineer on the bench before it is listed, graded by condition (Grade A, B+, Tested-Functional, or For parts), and sold with a short bench report describing exactly what was checked.
Why is it sometimes cheaper here than on eBay?
Much of the inventory is cross-listed on eBay under the seller "slashinburn." Buying direct from strommen.systems is often a lower price on the same unit — same packaging, same bench testing, sold straight from the workbench.
How do I know the item actually works?
Every unit gets a bench check and a short report with real numbers — SSD health, battery cycles, ports, display, audio channels — not just "powers on." Real photos of the exact unit, including its serial plate, are sent on request. No stock photos and no bait-and-switch.
What is your return policy?
Working items (Grade A, B+, and Tested-Functional) can be returned within 30 days of delivery for a refund of the item price. If an item is not as described or arrives defective, return shipping is covered and it is refunded in full. For-parts items are sold with their fault stated and are not returnable for that known issue.
Are the drives wiped and is my data secure?
Storage in computing gear is wiped before sale using NIST 800-88 aligned procedures and the drive health is reported. The same data-sanitization service, with serial-matched wipe reports per drive, is available at lot scale for businesses.
What payment methods do you accept?
Direct orders are paid via PayPal or Venmo, both with purchase protection. Card numbers are never seen or stored by Strommen Systems — the payment processors handle them.
Do you offer local pickup?
Yes. Local pickup is available in the Philadelphia / Huntington Valley area at no charge — just ask before paying. Everything else ships flat-rate and insured for the item value, usually within one to two business days.
Do you repair electronics, or only sell them?
There is a repair bench for vintage hi-fi (turntables, cassette decks, receivers, amplifiers) and general electronics and computer repair. Work starts with a diagnosis and a quote before any repair is done — no surprises on the invoice.
Can you handle bulk or business orders?
Yes. Fleet services run lot-scale jobs (roughly 10–250 units): bulk hardware testing and grading with per-serial reports, bulk imaging and provisioning for Windows or Linux, custom golden images, and NIST 800-88 aligned data wipes — for resellers, schools, offices, and IT shops.
Is this a real business?
Strommen Systems is a registered Pennsylvania LLC with a posted return policy, a working inbox (hello@strommen.systems), and a named person behind it — not an anonymous flip account.
