Policies

The fine print, & kept short.

Items are sold through the eBay store (seller slashinburn) and covered by eBay's own Money Back Guarantee. This page covers the parts of the business that stay direct: repair work, warranty, and privacy, plus a buyer FAQ.

01 / Returns

Items are sold through the eBay store (seller slashinburn), so each item's return window is whatever's stated on its own eBay listing: some run a standard return period, some cover defects only, and for-parts or as-is items are sold with the fault stated and carry no return for that known issue.

Separately, eBay's Money Back Guarantee always covers an item that never arrives or doesn't match its listing, regardless of that listing's stated return policy.

Repair work stays direct and works differently: diagnosis and a written quote come before anything is opened, so there's nothing to return if the quote isn't a yes. A completed repair is covered by the 14-day repair warranty below.

02 / Shipping & pickup

Item shipping and local pickup are set on each eBay listing; check the listing for the specifics before you buy.

  • Repair jobs ship from the Philadelphia area, typically within one to two business days once the work is done, flat-rate and insured for the item's value; fragile and heavier gear is foam-packed and double-boxed.
  • Local drop-off and pickup for repairs is available in the Frankford, Philadelphia area at no charge, just ask before shipping anything in.
  • If a repair shipment is lost or arrives damaged, the insurance claim is mine to handle, tell me and I'll make it right.
03 / Warranty

Repairs are guaranteed to fix the diagnosed fault and hold up in normal use. If a repaired unit fails again within 14 days of return through no fault of handling, I'll repair it, replace it, or refund it: your choice.

This is a used- and refurbished-electronics business, so the warranty covers the repaired function, not open-ended coverage or unrelated consumable wear. For-parts or as-is repair work carries no working-condition guarantee. Items bought on eBay are covered by eBay's Money Back Guarantee instead of this warranty.

04 / Privacy

For enquiries and orders, I collect what's needed to answer your message and fulfill an order: your name, contact details, and shipping address. Item payments run through eBay checkout; repairs and fleet-service work are invoiced directly and paid via PayPal or Venmo. Either way, I never see or store your card numbers.

  • I do not sell your contact details or subscribe you to marketing when you send an enquiry.
  • Enquiries are handled through email and internal customer-management tools, alongside related service or order records.
  • Order records are kept as required for tax and accounting, and no longer.

This site also uses Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand visits, product interest, clicks to eBay, and completed contact enquiries. Google Analytics uses cookies and browser/device information. Contact names, email addresses, message text, and buyer details are not included in our custom analytics events. Clicking through to eBay is measured separately from a completed purchase. You can block analytics using your browser’s privacy controls or Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on.

05 / Frequently asked
Are these items new or used?

Everything is used or refurbished surplus, not new. Each unit is tested by an engineer on the bench before it is listed, graded by condition (Grade A, B+, Tested-Functional, or For parts), and sold with a short bench report describing exactly what was checked.

Why is the same item listed on eBay and here?

This catalog mirrors the eBay store (seller "slashinburn") with the full bench report, specs, and condition detail an eBay listing has no room for. Each item page here links straight to its live eBay listing to buy; eBay handles checkout and the eBay Money Back Guarantee.

How do I know the item actually works?

Every unit gets a bench check and a short report with real numbers (SSD health, battery cycles, ports, display, audio channels), not just "powers on." Real photos of the exact unit, including its serial plate, are sent on request. No stock photos and no bait-and-switch.

What is your return policy?

Each item’s return window is whatever is stated on its own eBay listing: some run a standard return period, some cover defects only, and for-parts or as-is items are sold with the fault stated and carry no return for that known issue. Separately, eBay’s Money Back Guarantee always covers an item that never arrives or doesn’t match its listing. Repair work is different: it is diagnosed and quoted before anything is opened, and a completed repair is covered by a 14-day repair warranty.

Are the drives wiped and is my data secure?

Storage in computing gear is wiped before sale using NIST 800-88 aligned procedures and the drive health is reported. The same data-sanitization service, with serial-matched wipe reports per drive, is available at lot scale for businesses.

What payment methods do you accept?

Items are purchased through eBay checkout. Repairs and fleet-service work are invoiced directly and paid via PayPal or Venmo, both with purchase protection; card numbers are never seen or stored by Strommen Systems, the payment processors handle them.

Do you offer local pickup?

For items, local pickup follows whatever is set on the eBay listing; check the listing before you buy. For repairs and fleet services, local drop-off and pickup is available in the Frankford, Philadelphia area at no charge, just ask before shipping anything in.

Do you repair electronics, or only sell them?

There is a repair bench for vintage hi-fi (turntables, cassette decks, receivers, amplifiers) and general electronics and computer repair. Work starts with a diagnosis and a quote before any repair is done: no surprises on the invoice.

Can you handle bulk or business orders?

Yes. Fleet services run lot-scale jobs (roughly 10–250 units): bulk hardware testing and grading with per-serial reports, bulk imaging and provisioning for Windows or Linux, custom golden images, and NIST 800-88 aligned data wipes, for resellers, schools, offices, and IT shops.

Is this a real business?

Strommen Systems is a registered Pennsylvania LLC with posted policies, a working inbox (hello@strommen.systems), and a named person behind it, not an anonymous flip account.
