Description
A clean 40X high-dry achromat with no legible maker's mark. I am selling it as unmarked rather than guessing at a brand to raise the price.
Bench report
- Functional
- Optics clear front and rear after cleaning. No haze, no fungus, and no scratch on the front element. Standard RMS thread, undamaged, turns freely by hand.
- Cosmetic
- Chrome barrel with normal handling wear; tape residue removed. Partial engraving only, as described above. A matching 40X off the same bench, engraved '40 1128', is listed separately if you need a pair.
- Tested
- Optics inspected under direct light and against a bright field. Front and rear elements examined at magnification. · No haze, no fungus, no balsam separation, and no chips visible in the glass. · RMS objective thread inspected for burrs, cross-threading, and dings. None found. · Every legible engraving read under raking light and transcribed exactly as marked (see Specifications). · Adhesive tape and residue removed from the barrel, then the optics cleaned and re-inspected. The apparent front-element scratch was residue and lifted completely.
- Not tested
- NOT mounted on a microscope. I do not have a matching stand for it, so resolution, field flatness, parfocality, and working distance at magnification are NOT verified. · No disassembly, recollimation, or internal service performed. · Sold as a used optical component, not as a calibrated or certified instrument. · Maker NOT identified. I will not speculate on a brand, and you should not buy this expecting one.
