Real name · Real bench · Registered LLC

A real person, a real bench & a registered business.

Strommen Systems is a one-engineer operation in the Philadelphia area: I source surplus and refurb electronics, test them on the bench, and sell them direct — usually for less than the same unit costs on eBay, because there's no marketplace fee to pass along. The point of this page is simple: to tell you exactly who you're buying from and how the gear is checked.

01 / How every unit is tested

Intake & data wipe

Storage is wiped to a verifiable standard and the OS reset before anything is listed. Service tags and serials are recorded so the exact unit is traceable — the one in the photos is the one you get.

Bench test & report

Each unit is powered up and exercised: storage health, battery cycles and ports on laptops; power-on and basic function on lab and network gear; channels and noise on audio. The numbers go on the listing — quantitative, not "excellent."

Honest grading & photos

A condition grade plus real photos on request — neutral background, a serial-plate shot, and close-ups of any cosmetic flaws. No stock images, no flattering crops hiding damage.

02 / What the condition grades mean
Grade A
Fully working, minimal wear. Looks and performs close to new for its age.
Grade B+
Fully working refurb with normal cosmetic wear — light scuffs or marks, nothing that affects use. Flaws are photographed.
Tested-Functional
Verified to power on and perform its core function; sold as a working unit with the tested results listed, cosmetics as shown.
For parts / as-is
Sold for repair or salvage with the known fault stated. Priced accordingly; no working-condition guarantee.
03 / Who you're buying from

Strommen Systems is operated by Mat Strommen and registered as Strommen Systems LLC in Pennsylvania. It's not an anonymous reseller handle — it's a named business with a fixed location in the Philadelphia area, a posted return and shipping policy, and one inbox that I actually read.

A lot of the same inventory is also listed under the slashinburn eBay account, where you can see the feedback history. Buying here instead just skips the marketplace fee — same unit, same person standing behind it.
